Overview
During this archeological tour to Eritrea The Ancient Port of Adulis, We will make Thrilling trekking to Qohaito (Kohaito), Metera, corresponding to an important ancient city called Koleo from the 200s AD, located 20 km south of Qohaito, is a place for some of Eritrea’s most important historical sites. Last but not least is the archeological site of Adulis, which is located about 60 km south of Massawa.

Itinerary
Arrive in the morning in Asmara, and our English-speaking travel guide will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer you to our office to discuss the itinerary.
The journey to Massawa begins in the afternoon with a drive-through Massawa – Nefasit road from Asmara to the east. Before moving to Massawa, a quick coffee break will probably be necessary in Ghindea.

Early morning, we drive about 70 km south of Massawa to the old port of Adulis. It is a river port that served as a center of trade between the highlands of Eritrea and Ethiopia.
Zula is nearby. Both ports were at the center of the trade of the time, which was predominant in the Middle East. Then, already in the 7th century BC, civilizations developed. It is assumed that Adulis was a large city at that time. A small part of the city buried underneath and today has been excavated, but there is still too much to see.
Following a memorable stay in Adulis, In the late afternoon, return to Massawa.

Driving early morning from Massawa to Dekemhare is an enjoyable ascending from Zero sea levels to gradually climbing to Gahtelai and Nefasit.
We take a turn by the Nefasit on the way to Dekemhare. Dekemhare is a beautiful town founded in the 15th century as a small village and advanced by the Italians into a city serving as a transportation hub for the extension of their invasion late as an industrial zone. Various art deco-style buildings and large rocks surround the town.

After breakfast, we head to the archeological site Quhaito, a once trade center city. Visitors will enjoy the archaeological site in Quhaito. An ancient dam, some standing pillars, traces of an ancient palace, Rock paintings, and tombs. Included is also the breathtaking view of the Grand Canyon. We head back to Asmara and visit Segheneiti on our way.

Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, is the largest city. Lying at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level, the city has a pleasant year-round climate of 18-25 Celsius. Even during the summer, Asmara has an enjoyable environment.
The Italians literally created the modern City of Asmara between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th Century. The city’s elegant streets and the adjoining promenade are comfortable for day or night walking. The city now accommodates more than 400 art Deco buildings officially recognized by UNESCO. The city maintains its cleanliness, which many visitors commend. One of the attractive features of Asmara, particularly the country in general, is that it is the safest place to enjoy. One would feel as if one is in Rome when touring Asmara. Many Italians used to call it “Asmara Bella,”.meaning “Asmara the beautiful.”
Late in the evening, transfer to the airport for departure.
