Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa for Eritrea?
Almost everyone does. We arrange it for $170 in total, and you do not need to book a tour with us.
Do I need a travel permit?
Any place outside Asmara needs one. When you book a tour with us, we arrange every permit and it is included in the price.
How much does a tour cost?
Day tours start at $250 and multi-day trips from $1,100. Tour prices include your guide and driver, transport, accommodation with breakfast, all necessary travel permits, airport pick-up and drop-off, and 24/7 support.
Can I get a visa from you without booking a tour?
Yes. We arrange visas for guests who do not book a tour with us, but permits are only arranged for tour guests.
How do I book?
Email us at info@dahlaktours.com, or message us on WhatsApp, which we recommend, on either of our two numbers: +291 745 6964 (Asmara) or +254 728 053 447 (Kenya). The visa processing fee is paid online, and the tour fee is paid in cash.
When is the best time to visit?
October to March is the most comfortable time for most trips. The highlands around Asmara and Keren are cool and clear, and the Red Sea coast and the Dahlak Islands are at their most pleasant for snorkelling and diving. Asmara is mild all year, but nights are coldest from December to February and the main rains fall between June and September. On the coast, temperatures can reach 40°C or more from June to September.
