A Weekend tour in the Dahlak Islands

Arrive at the Asmara International Airport, and you will be transferred to your hotel after processing the customs formalities. In the afternoon, Head out for dinner at Spageti house restaurant. After dinner, we will explore Asmara’s nightlife and find some bars to mingle with before returning to our hotel.

The morning begins with breakfast at the hotel before we start our journey of 120km to Massawa. This vibrant port city is a mix of Italian, Egyptian, and Ottoman structures built on Africa’s Red Sea coastline. Arriving there and, once the tourist permits are in place, we’ll board motorboats to explore “the pearls of Red Sea”: Dahlak Islands. (Dissie & Madote Islands)

We’ll take our cook with us and provide all meals throughout your stay. Since there is no hotel located on the island, we’ll camp in tents. During our stay, we’ll supply all camping equipment, including water and food.

The organization provides large and comfortable igloo tents; each tent is equipped with mosquito nets, an insulating floor. Each participant is provided with a sleeping bag, camp chair, portable toilet, a shower

A cook with a kitchen and other camping equipment and a sailor/assistant completes the camp. We serve tea, coffee (typical breakfast of the Eritrean lowland based). At lunch and dinner, a fresh fish on the island.

Four local drinks per person per day are included, including bottled water and beer.

For those who want to dive in the Islands, equipment is available for rent.

After a final swim on the paradise islands of Dessie, return to Massawa, arriving in the late morning or early afternoon. If time allows, we will make a short excursion to Massawa. Massawa City has survived throughout the centuries, and the old port city has preserved a fantastic collection of Ottoman architecture. In the afternoon, we leave Massawa and head to Asmara.

After breakfast, our tour starts in Asmara and places around Asmara. Asmara is inscribed on the UNESCO Heritage List, and the town is called “Piccola Roma” (Little Rome). Architectural wonders are described in many of its buildings, such as the Roman Catholic Cathedral, St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Al Khulafa al Rashedin, Market (vegetable, spices), Medeber (recycling depot), National Museum, Fiat Tagliero Building, Tank Cemetery, etc.

It is situated on a plateau of highland located in central Eritrea. Asmara, a Modernist city in Africa, is considered the capital city of the country. It is a remarkable example of a planned city colonial in its time due to the subsequent stages of planning from 1893 and 1941, during the Italian colonial administration.
